Easter 2006

For Jesus, entering Jerusalem on a colt surrounded by throngs of admirers was the equivalent of passing the point of no return. He’d already predicted his death and this action signed the warrant – both with the religious leadership and with the Romans. It was an absolute and total commitment to be the Messiah of God, the Savior - not just of Israel - but of the whole world.

Jesus often does not save the day in the nick of time "as we had hoped." Instead, Easter proclaims a hope that appears after the nick of time has come and gone.
